This shield protects the rear shock from heat generated by the catalytic converter.
It can improve suspension performance and extend maintenance intervals.

Of course, it's a bolt-on part!
The problem with the 790 is that the catalytic converter is directly below the rear shock.
The catalytic converter can reach several hundred degrees during normal riding, and the heat from it increases the temperature of the rear shock. When shock oil overheats, it undergoes thermal decomposition.
This process changes the viscosity of the oil, increases wear on moving parts, and can degrade suspension performance due to a phenomenon called heat fade.
CAMEL's aluminum heat shield is TIG welded and ceramic coated.
Installing it between the catalytic converter and the rear shock lowers the operating temperature of the shock.
Less impact from catalytic converter heat means the shock oil stays cooler, service intervals are extended, and the effects of heat fade in the shock are reduced.
While CAMEL is not a suspension shop, we believe there are issues with the shock's internal components, in addition to the effects of excessive heat from the catalytic converter.
Reducing the effects of excessive heat is important for good suspension performance and longevity.
However, this heat shield does not solve the fundamental shock issues of the 790.
