This is a replica of the SABRE 3-inch megaphone muffler that was sold by SUPERIOR, a parts brand of Dixie Company.
This custom muffler, popular from the 1950s to 1970s, features a bell-shaped tip at the end of the megaphone. Due to its structure and shape, it is commonly known as a cocktail shaker.
It features a mounting system that allows for wide fore and aft sliding and adjustable fixation with a bridge on the back of the muffler and J-hook shaped brackets. Compared to modern ones, it looks a bit clunky, but it's an old-school style mount.
While SUPERIOR also sold types without clamps, we have reproduced the type with clamps. It comes with brazed, integrated clamps.
The inlet is designed to fit standard 1-3/4 inch (44.5 mm) pipes, as well as 45 mm pipes which are widely used domestically due to the unavailability of materials. To prevent excessive clearance with inch pipes, the fit for millimeter pipes is set to be slightly tighter, but it can be installed without issues.
The plate-type double baffle, which can be easily attached and detached with wing nuts, is also reproduced. Of course, the distinctive short flare at the tip of the bell is also reproduced, and flathead screws are used for installation.
