■According to safety standards, "large rear reflectors" are mandatory for freight vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 7t or more. For vehicles manufactured on or after September 1, 2011, it is mandatory to install products that satisfy the technical requirements of UN R70.
【Regarding Partial Amendment of "Road Vehicle Safety Standards", etc.】

In the official gazette dated January 30, 2007, it was announced that "Agreement concerning the approval of retro-reflective markings for heavy and long vehicles (UN R70)" would be adopted from April 1, 2007 (mandatory application for vehicles manufactured on or after September 1, 2011).
Consequently, "Road Vehicle Safety Standards" (Ministry of Transport Ordinance No. 67 of 1951), "Notification stipulating detailed provisions of road vehicle safety standards" (Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Notification No. 619 of 2002), etc., were revised.
●The type of reflector used is limited to "striped (zebra) type" for trucks/tractors and "framed type" for trailers.
●Changes in installation requirements (※Refer to "Mounting Position" below)
Height: Upper edge 1.5m or less → Lower edge 0.25m or more above ground, upper edge 1.5m or less above ground (however, if installation is difficult due to the structure of the vehicle, 2.1m or less)
●Enlargement
Rectangle with one side of 130mm or more, Reflective area: 800cm2 or more, Fluorescent area: 400cm2 or more → Length (total for 2 or 4 pieces) 1,130mm to 2,300mm
・For trucks/tractors: Width: 140±10mm, Stripe width: 100±2.5mm
・For trailers: Width: 200＋30／－5mm, Border: 40±1mm
●Improved reflective properties
Retroreflective coefficient 122cd/lx/m2 → 300cd/lx/m2 (2.5 times the current value)
