The timing for replacing a sprocket is very ambiguous, with no clear standards.
Among the factors to consider is "tooth wear."
If the teeth become pointed, or if the root or sides are worn down, it's time for replacement.
Replacing all three parts—front and rear sprockets and chain—at the same time. If you only replace one of them, the worn parts that weren't replaced will prevent the new part from performing at its original capacity and durability, leading to premature replacement. Considering the long term, replacing all three simultaneously is recommended as it ultimately extends their lifespan.
