There is no clear standard for when to replace a sprocket, making it a very ambiguous decision.
One factor to consider is "wear on the tooth tips."
It's time to replace the sprocket if the tooth tips have become pointed, or if the belly or sides have worn down.
Replacing only one of the three components – front and rear sprockets and chain – can cause the new component to wear out prematurely due to the continued use of the unreplaced, worn components, preventing it from achieving its intended performance and durability. Therefore, to ensure longevity in the long run, replacing all three simultaneously is recommended.
