There is no clear standard for when to replace a sprocket, making it very ambiguous.
One factor to consider is "wear on the teeth tips."
If the teeth tips become pointed, or the belly or sides are worn down, it's time for replacement.
When replacing the front and rear sprockets and chain, it's recommended to replace all three at the same time. If you only replace one of them, the worn parts that haven't been replaced will prevent the new parts from performing at their full potential and durability, shortening their lifespan. In the long run, replacing all three at the same time will make them last longer.
