There is no clear standard for when to replace a sprocket, making it very ambiguous.
One factor to consider is "tooth wear."
If the teeth become pointed, or if the belly or sides are worn down, it's time to replace the sprocket.
Replace all three simultaneously: front and rear sprockets and chain. If you only replace one of these, the worn parts that haven't been replaced will prevent the new part from performing to its full potential and durability, leading to an earlier replacement. Therefore, considering the long run, it's recommended to replace all three simultaneously for better longevity.
