There is no clear standard for when to replace a sprocket, making the timing very ambiguous.
One factor that helps in making this decision is "wear on the tooth tips."
If the tooth tips become sharp, or the belly or sides are worn down, it's time for a replacement.
Simultaneous replacement of the front and rear sprockets and chain (all three parts): If you only replace one of these parts, the worn parts that haven't been replaced will prevent the new part from performing at its original capacity and durability, causing it to wear out sooner. Therefore, in the long run, replacing all three parts simultaneously is recommended as it will last longer.
