The timing for replacing a sprocket is often ambiguous, with no clear standard.
A key indicator for replacement is "wear on the tooth tips."
Replacement is recommended when the tooth tips become pointed, or the belly and sides show signs of wear.
It is recommended to replace all three components—front and rear sprockets and the chain—simultaneously. Replacing only one component means the worn, unreplaced parts will prevent the new part from performing optimally and shorten its lifespan. From a long-term perspective, replacing all three simultaneously is more durable and therefore recommended.
Changing the gear ratio will cause inaccuracies in the speedometer reading, so it is recommended for race use.
For general driving, inspect the sprocket every approximately 1000km.
If the tooth tips are thin, replace with a new one.
