These are brake pads manufactured by SBS, a company headquartered in Denmark, Northern Europe.

It also shuts out moisture, preventing corrosion of the backplate.
Steel backplate: Formed under a pressure of 22 tons, and pressed onto the backplate by applying 900 degrees of heat for 3 hours in a furnace.
