Points to note when choosing racing spark plugs
Check the screw size, plug type, and shape from the part number of your genuine plug or the plug you are currently using, and select the corresponding type.
Refer to the manufacturer's website for guidance on choosing the spark end shape.
The heat rating needs to be selected considering the increase in combustion temperature due to improved engine output and operating conditions, in order to keep the spark end temperature of the plug within the optimal temperature range.
Simply increasing the heat rating alone will not improve engine performance.
Generally, heat ratings of 7-8 are used for street use, 8-9 for track day specifications, and 9-10 for race specifications.
Recently, due to improvements in ignition system performance, there is almost no difference regarding the presence or absence of a resistor in the spark plug.
Resistor-type plugs will become the mainstream in the future.
Conversely, non-resistor types may cause engine problems in some models of certain vehicle types.
In such cases, always use a resistor-type plug.
