Racing plugs, recommended for two-wheelers and four-wheelers, are available in various types aimed at further performance improvement when used in races, circuit driving, or with increased engine output due to tuning.
Therefore, their shape differs from the manufacturer's standard specified plugs, and plug life and low-speed performance may be slightly compromised.
However, on the other hand, they are developed and designed to perform fully and withstand even in extremely tuned engines and very harsh operating conditions, with a wide range of heat ratings up to very high values.
Please select the appropriate plug for your individual engine to achieve full performance.
Precautions for choosing racing plugs
Please check the thread size, plug type, and shape from your genuine plug or the part number of the plug you are currently using, and select the corresponding type.
Refer to the manufacturer's website for how to choose the spark section shape.
The heat rating needs to be selected considering the increase in combustion temperature due to improved engine output and operating conditions, in order to keep the spark section temperature of the plug within the optimal temperature range.
Simply raising the heat rating alone will not improve engine performance.
For mainly street driving, numbers 7-8 are used; for track day specifications, numbers 8-9; and for race specifications, numbers 9-10.
The presence or absence of a plug resistor now makes little difference due to the improved performance of ignition systems.
In the future, resistor types will become the mainstream.
Conversely, non-resistor types may cause engine trouble in some models of some vehicle types.
In such cases, always use a resistor type.
