The heat range needs to be selected considering the increase in combustion temperature due to improved engine output and operating conditions, in order to maintain the spark end temperature within the optimal range.
Simply increasing the heat range alone will not improve engine performance.
Generally, heat ranges 7-8 are used for street use, 8-9 for track day specifications, and 9-10 for race specifications.
In recent years, due to improvements in ignition system performance, there is almost no difference between resistor and non-resistor plugs.
Resistor types will become the mainstream going forward.
Conversely, non-resistor types may cause engine trouble in some models of certain vehicles.
