The 4-2 layout was adopted with the concept of faithfully preserving the silhouette and image of the stock exhaust.
By using lightweight titanium from the exhaust pipes to the silencer,
and achieving a 50% weight reduction compared to stock, even with
thicker exhaust pipes (φ42.7) than stock,
this full exhaust 4-2 system adds a racing machine
element to the sporty CB1100RS model.
A bypass is provided in the middle of the exhaust under the engine
to improve output in the mid to high speed range,
while revisions to the catalytic converter and silencer internals
improve low-speed acceleration and throttle response.
