Being forged aluminum, they are lighter and stiffer than stock wheels.
Reducing unsprung weight decreases the moment of inertia (resistance to rotation), improving acceleration. The reduced weight also makes deceleration easier, allowing for quicker stops.
The Y-spoke design further enhances strength!
