・When riding in the rain, riders are troubled by water droplets on their helmet visors, windscreens, and rearview mirrors, which cause discomfort and poor visibility, leading to danger. Especially when riding at night in the rain, light from headlights and other sources scatters off the water droplets, making it difficult to see. Conventionally, many water-repellent treatments were used, applied to visors and screens to repel water with the wind while riding. However, because rearview mirrors are not exposed to wind while riding, water-repellent mirrors, although they existed, were not practical.
・A new concept: HYDROPHILIC. For rearview mirrors, where water repellency was not sufficiently effective, a new surface treatment called HYDROPHILIC (hydrophilic) was developed based on the opposite idea. Hydrophilic means the opposite of water-repellent; water adhering to the specially processed mirror surface spreads smoothly over the mirror surface, maintaining the same surface as when it is not wet. For rearview mirrors, which are not exposed to wind and cannot repel water droplets, the most effective current technology is HYDROPHILIC.
