Typically, motorcycle tanks are assembled by joining the top (two-piece press-formed and welded) and bottom (single-piece press-formed) using a method called seam welding. Therefore, even tanks that appear identical may have considerable individual differences when measured using various methods. (Of course, some may also have damage from use).
