・Side stand foot hooks are found on models like the RT and GT, but the R1200GS doesn't have one, possibly to prevent snagging during dirt riding. By attaching an assist bar, you can easily deploy the side stand while straddling the bike. When you're tired, trying to look down at your feet to deploy the side stand while still on the bike can lead to a tip-over. This will be very useful when you're tired from a long touring trip.
