The S-Stage allows for an increase in displacement while retaining the stock cylinder head and crankshaft.
Furthermore, the S-Stage 88cc offers a choice between the "Standard" version, designed for high-octane gasoline, and the "eco" version, designed for regular gasoline.
While the conventional Standard version had a compression ratio of 11.5:1 and recommended high-octane gasoline, the S-Stage eco has a compression ratio of 10.5:1, making it possible to use regular gasoline.
This helps reduce fuel costs.
