This allows for power consumption equivalent to headlights and tail lights, minimizing the imbalance in power generation when safety components are removed from a race vehicle.
For many AC-powered vehicles with constantly on headlights, especially mini-bikes, driving with the lights off due to easy modifications such as cutting wires can unbalance the stator's power generation and consumption, increasing the overall voltage of the vehicle.
Continuing to drive in this state can lead to battery degradation due to overcharging and potential failure of the genuine regulator due to excessive strain.
The effects of overcharging are more pronounced in engine-tuned vehicles that run at higher RPMs than stock.
The 4Ω type is set based on data from Takegawa's actual driving tests on KSR110, Monkey, and Ape. It is designed for continuous high-RPM driving with the stock stator, which has strong power generation for lighting, and thus has a slightly higher power consumption setting.
